Anxiety is far more common than most people think. It often involves persistent feelings of worry, fear, or unease, which can show up physically – like a racing heart, restlessness, or tight muscles.
Although it’s completely normal to feel anxious in certain situations (for example, when someone close to you is unwell), ongoing or intense anxiety can have a serious impact on your daily life and mental health. The causes of anxiety can vary widely and may include inherited traits, stressful life events, or experiences of trauma and learned responses.
Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that uses deep relaxation and concentrated focus to guide a person into a highly receptive mental state, often called a trance – though you remain awake, just deeply calm. In this relaxed state, the therapist can support the client in exploring and shifting the deeper triggers behind their anxiety, helping the subconscious respond in healthier ways.
By working directly with the subconscious, hypnotherapy can uncover and reshape long-standing fears and worries. It offers a powerful way to break free from negative thinking patterns, ease the physical effects of anxiety, and boost your ability to stay calm and in control.
Before we begin any hypnotherapy sessions, I offer an initial consultation. This is a chance for us to explore whether hypnotherapy for anxiety is the right fit for you, and for you to decide if the way I work feels comfortable. There’s absolutely no pressure to book – it’s important that it feels like the right choice for you.
If you decide to move forward, your first hypnotherapy session will focus on setting clear goals for anxiety relief. We’ll talk about what you’d like to achieve overall, and then break that down into the specific changes needed to help you feel more in control and at ease. For example, if social situations make you feel anxious, we’ll define how you’d preferto feel in those moments. It might sound straightforward, but many people initially find it tricky to focus on what they dowant, rather than what they want to avoid. I’ll guide you in shaping realistic, positive goals for overcoming anxiety. Whether you have one goal or several, your hypnotherapy journey is entirely tailored to you.
This first goal-setting session also helps me understand you better – your experiences, your needs, and where you’d like to be. I’ll begin to map out how we can structure your future hypnotherapy sessions for anxiety relief, though this will always remain flexible. Life happens, and every session will adapt to what you need in that moment.
Depending on how much we cover, we may have time for a short hypnotherapy session during this first meeting, or the entire session might be focused on setting the foundations.
When working with clients seeking help with anxiety, I often use a powerful approach known as inner child work. This method allows the subconscious mind to bring forward the deeper emotional blocks or protective patterns that might have been formed early in life. These are often the root causes of ongoing anxiety. Through hypnotherapy, we help your mind to release outdated fears and create a stronger sense of safety and calm. This foundational work is key to lasting anxiety relief.
After this, we revisit your original goals and assess what’s changed. Any remaining issues are addressed in more detail, using targeted hypnotherapy techniques. We focus on breaking old, unhelpful thought patterns and building new, positive responses to the situations that used to trigger anxiety.
Every hypnotherapy session is designed specifically for you, ensuring that you receive the personalised support you need to move forward with confidence and ease.
