A phobia is an irrational fear which has been 'symbolically attached' to an object, or situation, which causes little or no real danger.

Whether its spiders, birds, dentists, flying or something else, a phobia can have a profound impact on your life.


In some cases it can hold you back from doing the things you want to do, in others it can be terrifying and at times embarassing. There is usually a strong avoidance behaviour connected with the phobia, which will run alongside intense feelings of anxiety, panic and a feeling of loss of control.

How can Hypnotherapy help with phobias and fears?

Whichever way a phobia impacts on you, hypnotherapy can make a positive difference. Phobias can be easily helped using cognitive hypnotherapy techniques to help learn new behaviour patterns.

This can include:

Changing the way you feel when you come into contact with the 'stimulus'.

Learning a new, more relaxed response and helping you to become much more calm in situations where you are likely to encounter the stimulus.

Uncovering the cause of the phobia, although this is not always necessary.

Teaching you how to feel more in control so you can be free of your fears and start to go where you want and do what you want!
